friday’s list for 31 august 2007.
Today is my last day working here. Tuesday, after my much-needed 3-day weekend, I’ll start my job as a designer/accounts manager here. Change is good, right? Change is healthy.
I’ve been through a lot in the past three years, both as a person and an employee. This job has seen me through about fifteen different hair colors and styles, and probably just as many life crises. I turned twenty-one while I worked here, receiving a bottle of Chi-Chi’s margarita mix in a brown paper bag in the parking lot of Pizza Hut (remember that, Dale?). I got both of my tattoos whilst working here. I’ve nearly had nervous breakdowns here at least three times. I’ve been berated by authors, loved by authors, sent gifts of coffee, flowers, chocolates, postcards of bungalows, and even money by authors. It’s been an extremely long, strange trip (that is the one and only time you’ll ever hear me paraphrase the Grateful Dead), and I think I’m coming out of it a better person. So here you go, an extra-special two lists.
Things I Will Miss About Working at AuthorHouse:
-
free fruit and granola in the morning
-
free movies from Marlin
-
being able to spend a great deal of my morning blogging
-
my Wacom tablet
-
horrible, horrible poetry
-
my “window seat” cube
-
free ibuprofen in the first aid drawer
-
taking walks around the pond
-
the authors
Things I Won’t Miss:
-
horrible, horrible cover ideas
-
the dirty breakroom microwaves
-
the dirty bathroom sinks
-
sales reps
-
all-employee meetings
-
various co-workers
-
the west side of town
-
the tape gun
-
the authors
Happy Friday.

It’s okay to say you’ve missed me most of all, Dorothy.
